Benoit Paire made many headlines in 2021 yet most of those have not been related to his play as tantrums and antics were frequent during what he described as a very tough year for him.
Benoit Paire is a very fun tennis player to watch and when really trying the Frenchman is more than good. There was a reason he was ranked inside the top 20 at one point in time and while his 2021 season is one to forget the Frenchman is already looking ahead to the 2022 season. In a recent interview he said:
"For me, 2022 has already begun. It was a difficult season that
I want to forget as soon as possible, there is nothing to remember from
2021. My head is already in 2022 and I feel prepared: I want to return
to the top-20 and my intention is to have a great year."
The season for Paire will begin in Australia where he is set to compete at the
Australian Open. The French player has been vaccinated for a while and personally, he does not have a problem with the vaccine mandate. Asked earlier in the year at the Paris Masters about players who don't want to get vaccinated he responded harshly:
"There is no quarantine anymore in Melbourne if you're vaccinated.
Those that are not vaccinated, I don't care about them. If they don't
play, all the better for me. I don't care about the other players. I'm motivated to have a great
season next year. If there are some people who are reluctant to get
vaccinated, then they should stay in Europe. It's not my problem. You
have to be vaccinated to go to Australia."
He finished off with:
"I am vaccinated and I'm looking forward to playing there."
