With the European clay court season in full swing, ATP stars have begun the laborious task of claiming one of the big titles on the red dirt. Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev is currently competing at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters, and he gave his thoughts on the possible title winners during the clay swing.
Medvedev has had a disappointing start to the 2025 season, but is hoping to right the ship before the 2025 French Open begins in a few months. The Russian star is not known for his prowess on clay, but shocked even himself when he won the Rome Open in 2023.

Alcaraz a favorite, Sinner could surprise, says Medvedev

Prior to his opening match against compatriot Karen Khachanov, Medvedev was asked to predict who would win each of the ATP Masters 1000 titles on the road to Roland Garros.
"Easy – I make the triple Masters and finish it off with Roland Garros, the cherry on the top!" said Medvedev with a smile. “I don’t always like these predictions because I still want to win and I managed to win Rome one time but if I don’t win, I would say Monte Carlo, is Carlos playing? I did not see him here yet, where is he? But I would go with Carlos in Madrid, I think it suits his game well there, he can play well.
"Rome, I wonder how Jannik comes back. But let’s go for Zverev, he likes to win there, I feel like maybe once, two or three times. And then Monte Carlo, Stefanos. He cannot lose here! I don’t know why but he’s won three out of four years."
World No.1 Jannik Sinner received a three-month ban for testing positive for a banned substance, but will return in time for the Rome Open.
