Pablo Carreno Busta won his maiden ATP 500 title at the Hamburg European Open by defeating Filip Krajinovic 6-2 6-4.
The Spaniard won his 6th ATP title overall and first ATP 500 title after a great week of tennis in Hamburg. Speaking about this achievement during the trophy ceremony Carreno Busta said:
"It's an incredible feeling. I think that I worked very, very hard to finally win this title. It's my first ATP 500 title."
It was the 2nd trophy Busta won in 2021 after winning the Andalucia Open in April. Busta drew parallels with that performance as he explained that comfort level contributed to his good play. He said:
"I felt very comfortable during the whole week from the first match. I think that I played very good and I continued improving during the week. That's very important and today in the final I probably played the best match of the tournament."
