Tennis analyst Alex Corretja has ran his rule over the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and believes that while Novak Djokovic is favourite for a reason to go one step closer to a golden slam that he made not have it all his own way.
This is due to the short format which he believes may suit some of the other top seeds and that he wouldn't be surprised if Djokovic came out with either result.
“Djokovic is the top favourite and we will all agree with that. Due to the fact that it is not the best of five sets, that opens the range a bit to a series of tennis players such as Daniil Medvedev or Alexander Zverev, who have also shown that they can do very well in these types of tournaments.” Corretja said.
“If he has made the decision to go, it is because he has enough energy to do so. If Novak has decided to go, it is because he feels it in his heart. I don’t think I need to prove anything. He is number 1 in the world, he has 20 Grand Slams, the tennis player with the most weeks as number 1 … if he is at 100% he will have great opportunities.”
“I wouldn’t put too much pressure on him to go for the gold, I wouldn’t be disappointed if it was him and I didn’t win it. I don’t think I should feel more pressure than the rest.”
