Novak Djokovic ran into several problems upon landing in Australia and the situation has gotten worse over time with many parties getting involved.
Djokovic has been subjected to questionable treatment that is in line with standard procedure employed by the Australian authorities yet many were not happy about it. The Serbian is currently situated in a quarantine hotel awaiting a court decision that will essentially determine whether he will be permitted to enter the country or not.
The court hearing is scheduled for Monday until which Djokovic will remain in the hotel. Many players were asked about the unfortunate situation and Nadal gave a long response:
"In some way, I feel sorry for him but he knew the conditions months
ago. I don't encourage nobody. Everyone has to do what they feel is good
for them but there are rules and without the vaccine there can be some
troubles."
He further said:
"He’s free to take his own position, but then there are
consequences. The world has been suffering enough. Get vaccinated. If he
wanted, he would playing here in Australia without problems. Of course what’s happening is not good for Novak, in my opinion. [But] if you are vaccinated, you can play in the
Australian Open."
