Swiatek Iga Roland Garros 2020
Iga Swiatek played a fabulous match at the BNP Paribas Open to reach the 4th round of the event with a 6-1 6-2 demolition of Veronika Kudermetova.
The conditions clearly suit Iga Swiatek who demonstrated an even better level than in the previous round trashing Kudermetova in straight sets. There was not a lot of excitement in the match as games looked like one another. Most of them were dominated by Swiatek who was just sitting and waiting for a chance at the baseline.
Employing her signature playstyle she bombarded away from the baseline and Kudermetova had no answer. The courts play very slow and it gave the Polish player a lot of time to get set and once she does that watch out. The first set was won 6-1 as Swiatek dominated rallies attacking with early attacks. Kudermetova did not serve well at all and that did not help her.
More of that continued in the 2nd set with Swiatek taking an early 4-0 lead simply cruising in the match. It strikingly resembled the Rome Masters final where Swiatek dominated Pliskova. Like Pliskova, Kudermetova had no answers for the playstyle. She lacks the firepower to match Swiatek and she also does not move around the court well enough to cover it well.
She broke her opponent once more to finish it off with a bagel. An unbeliavable performance and a 6-2 6-0 victory in 55 minutes against a borderline top 30 player in the world. Impressive.
