Iga Swiatek wins second match of 2022 in Dubai

Iga Swiatek continues to win matches as the Polish player defeated Alexandra Pavlyuchenkova in her second match in Dubai 6-4 6-4.

Pavlyuchenkova missed most of last year due to a knee injury but she's back to playing tennis and she's playing quite well. The Russian gave Swiatek a pretty stern challenge but she was able to emerge on top once more. A rather fast-paced and exciting affair, Swiatek opened well breaking Pavlyuchenkova immediately.

She got broken herself and actually the Russian took a 4-3 lead but a late rally by Swiatek won her the set 6-4. The second set opened better for the Russian who was on top early 3-1. It was 3-3 not long after as Pavlyuchenkova struggled to keep a very high level for a prolonged period of time.

Eventually she wore down and Swiatek won it 6-3 in the second set.
