Andy Murray got revenge against Taro Daniel who defeated the British player in Melbourne a few weeks ago.
The Briton had a very determined look on his face from the first point with a very clear game plan and it worked to perfection. Daniel had no chance and after the match, Murray admitted that he wanted to dictate the match unlike the one they played in Melbourne a few weeks ago:
“I tried to be the one dictating from the first point and I thought I did that well. It was one of the better matches I’ve played in recent months."
The Melbourne defeat left Murray stunned and very disappointed prompting a coaching change. The fruits of this new relationships are not yet visible but Murray feels more comfortable this week than he did in Rotterdam the last week. He is determined to make it difficult for anyone saying:
“Obviously the results from 12 years ago aren’t going to affect the results this week. But what it tells me is that the conditions here are good for my game, so if I can play to a good level the courts are going to suit me here and I’ll make it difficult for everyone I play against.”
A very good test will come against Roberto Bautista Agut today who played in the final last year.
