Novak Djokovic overcame a very slow start against Jenson Brooksby to win the match in 4 sets and after the match, he fired a warning to other players.
During their match, former US Open champion Andy Roddick tweeted out that Novak Djokovic takes your legs first and then your soul. During the post-match interview, Djokovic was asked about that tweet and while he smiled initially he wasn't very thrilled about the soul part fo the comment. He did agree with the first part sending a warning to other players saying:
"Thanks Andy, I take that as a compliment."
"Only the first part, the second part - I don't take anybody's soul. Everyone has their soul, we are all beautiful souls, so I appreciate everyone.
"But I'll take your legs out, that's for sure"
Roddick made the comment highlighting how fitness, which once was considered Djokovic's biggest weakness especially early in his career is his biggest strength now. Never panicking Djokovic simply wears you down until he is able to overturn the score and win the match. We've seen it numerous times this year especially during the French Open.
He was down 0-2 against Musetti but came back to win. He was down against Nadal but came back to win. And most importantly for him, he was down 0-2 against Tsitsipas but once again came back to win. And he is doing that against players a decade younger than him.
Djokovic did take Roddick's comments as a compliment thanking him.
