Emma Raducanu will make her Linz debut today taking on Wang Xinyu and ahead of the match, she revealed she is feeling really positive.
It's not been the ideal follow-up to the US Open in New York for Emma Raducanu who has had mixed results wince winning her maiden grand slam trophy. The British player will finish her season in Austria at an event in Linz where she will play her first match today. Speaking ahead of the event she touched upon breaking into the top 20:
“It’s cool but I haven’t really looked at seedings. I never looked at seedings even when I was unranked, playing a seed in a tournament. It meant nothing to me so I’m sure it means nothing to the other players."
Commenting further on that she also revealed she is in a positive mind space right now:
"It’s just as much motivation if not more to take out a seed. I just really want to have fun this week and try and enjoy it because it’s the last one of the season and I feel like I’m really in a positive mind space.”
How much Raducanu can do in Linz remains to be seen but the Brit is very excited about what the future brings with the 2022 season slowly approaching. Wang, who will play Raducanu today expressed joy about playing against Emma saying:
“I’m happy that I get the chance to play her (Raducanu) and I will just try to enjoy it and play my tennis."
Match is supposed to start at 17:30 but is subject to change depending on how the previosu matches finish.
