SHOT 🔥 @intesasanpaolo #NextGenATPFinals
Carlos Alcaraz arrived in Milan in high spirits after some stellar results recently and that continued in Milan. His opponent was Holger Rune who won a challenger event in Italy in the previous week and his energy was not very high in this match. He started off well being able to stand up to Alcaraz with the first set ending in a tiebreak.
It was a very closely contested tiebreak where Alcaraz proved slightly better with 8-6. After that Alcaraz was able to slowly establish control doing so much damage with his forehand. The Spaniard was hitting the ball much harder than Rune and it proved successful. He also showed a lot more energy than the Dane who became slower and slower as the match went on.
The 2nd set was won by Alcaraz with 4-2 and after that Rune completely fell apart. Rushing in points, not hitting the ball as cleanly as he needed to and rather quickly Alcaraz was able to go up a break. He would later add another break after which he closed it out with 4-0. A great first match for the Spaniard who is looking like the player to beat.
