Stefanos Tsitsipas is set to face Grigor Dimitrov at the
Barcelona Open today and if he wins he'll most likely play
Carlos Alcaraz in a 2nd match later that day.
Tsitsipas clawed past Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 after two hours and 13 minutes. The Greek will next play 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov.
Tsitsipas who last week won his second consecutive Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters title, walked onto Pista Jan Kodes
with a 5-1 advantage. Although the top seed closed out the first set,
it was clear the rain suspension from Wednesday to Thursday made this a
whole new match.
Following the match, Tsitsipas was asked about possibly having to play two matches in a day. If Tsitspas was to defeat Dimitrov he will face either Alcaraz or Munar in the 2nd which would be the opponent's 2nd match of the day as well. He said.
"I'm literally prepared for anything, to play anyone."
He reached the final of Barcelona last year losing out to Nadal after a long 3-set battle. He is trying to do the same this week as well.
