Isner defeats Struff in the first 3 set match at Diriyah Tennis Cup

John Isner defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 7-5 and 13-11 in 92 minutes and therefore he has won the consolation bracket at the Diriyah Tennis Cup.

After losing to Fabio Fognini in the first match at the 2019 Diriyah Tennis Cup, John Isner had still a lot to play for. First, he defeated Stan Wawrinka in the first match in the consolation bracket 7-6 and 7-5. Today, he fought against Struff for the 5th place at the Diriyah Tennis Cup.

But Isner did not kick-off the match ideally. He allowed his opponent to have 5 breakpoints in the first set. However, Struff did not convert any of the first 4. But then, he managed to win 13 points in a row to win the first set 6-4.

In the second set, it was Isner who had breakpoints that he did not convert. But he converted his 3rd to win the set 7-5 and set up the first 3-set meeting at the 2019 Diriyah Tennis Cup. In the super tie-break, Isner converted his 3rd match point to win the set 13-11.
