It's been a rather straightforward final for them with both of their singles players winning their matches for an easy 2-0 victory. First, it was Rublev who defeated Gojo in straight sets after which Medvedev sealed the deal with a win over Cilic. Medvedev was very happy saying:
"It feels amazing. But I am happier for the team than myself. We have an amazing team, amazing atmosphere. I'm happy to be a part of it and bring points that we need. It's never easy to come here at the end of the season but they were some of the best weeks of my career."
The win was the first victory for Russia since 2006 and it came after a very good run. The only trouble the Russians faced was against Spain earlier in the competition with them sealing the rubber with a doubles win. Had they lost they would have been eliminated and they almost lost as the Spaniard took the opening set.
