Jennifer Brady had a brilliant run in Australia this year where she reached the final eventually losing out to Naomi Osaka.
The American player was not able to continue that tremendous form throughout the year as her play dropped off significantly during the clay season. After that passed the American started struggling with injuries and she never quite got back on track. The 26-year old managed only 25 matches this season with the last one coming at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
She was losing that match to Jelena Ostapenko and retired near the end of the match. Since then she has not played and she won't play in Australia next year either. Her ranking will take a very huge hit but for Brady, it's most important that she fully heals and recovers in order to play high-level tennis again. As of now, she won't be able to do it before March of next year.
