World number five
Stefanos Tsitsipas has stated that he was ‘grateful’
for the Netflix Break Point series to include an intense moment of a match against Nick
Kyrgios at
Wimbledon.
Both players featured in the series last year during
Wimbledon’s much-anticipated clash in the third round where Australia’s
tennis star came out on top in with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6.
In a Question & Answer session for the show, the
24-year-old stated he was glad that the moment was captured in the series
because it showed how much it meant for players to fight for the ultimate
glory.
“I had one moment where I actually felt grateful they were
there with my match I think with Kyrgios at Wimbledon,” he said as quoted by
Tennis-infinity.
“It was a moment where [there was] so much drama, and I'm glad they filmed it.
“It opens for the truth to be told and shared and each
person's perspective of things. It's good for the sport, it's good for the
sport. Not everything has to be clean and beautiful and elegant.”
Tsitsipas will start Wimbledon this year as fifth-seed, only
behind Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev and Norway’s Casper Ruud.
