Matteo Berrettini defeated
Andy Murray at the Queen's Club and after the match, he praised the Brit for his effort calling the match hard.
Andy Murray waited a long time to compete with the best in the world and he finally got a chance against yesterday facing a top 10 player in Matteo Berrettini. While the start was solid Murray was quickly overwhelmed by Berrettini who served well all match long and won 6-3 6-3.
After the match, Matteo said:
"This was really hard. We all know who Andy is, he is a great player and he was always there even until the last point. I'm really happy for my performance."
Murray is a 5x champion of the cinch Championships but he struggled all day with his return not being able to read Matteo's brutal first serve. The Italian spoke about his serve after the match saying:
"I have worked really hard [on my serve] in my career since I was a kid. I grew up on clay, so I was serving more kick [serves]. But then we figured out that I had to hit hard like this. Today it worked really well."
Berrettini also spoke about Murray's strong will to come back from injury saying he was happy to see him back and understanding the difficulty of coming back from injury:
"I know how tough it is to come back from an injury, so I wish him the best of luck. I think he played great today. I played better. I am just happy that he is back."
