Italy, Kazakhstan book their spots in Madrid at Davis Cup Finals

Italy led by Fabio Fognini and Kazakhstan led by Alexander Bublik advanced to the 2020 Davis Cup Finals in Madrid.

After Australia and Ecuador joined the 2020 Davis Cup Finals field, Italy and Kazakhstan are next confirmed participants. The leaders of these countries were Fabio Fognini and Alexander Bublik who contributed the most towards the victories of their countries.
It did not start all well for Kazakhstan. Robin Haase gave the Netherlands the lead when he defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in 3 sets. However, Alexander Bublik added 2 victories in straight sets and Golubev with Nedovyesov were successful in doubles to give their country 3-1 victory against the Netherlands.
For the team of Italy, it was a dominant performance from the beginning till the end. Fabio Fognini kicked-off the tie with 6-0, 6-3 victory over Duckhee Lee. Gianluca Mager defeated Sung-Ji Nam 6-3, 7-5 and the Italians had 2-0 lead after the first day.
On day 2, Fabio Fognini joined with Simone Bolelli in the doubles. The Italian duo defeated Nam and Song 6-3, 6-1 and so Italy was another confirmed participant for the 2020 Davis Cup Finals. Although it was not needed, Stefano Travaglia played also the 4th match of the tie against Yunseong Chung. The Italian added another dominant victory when he managed to win 6-0, 6-1.
