"It's a dream come true" says Alcaraz on reaching quarterfinals at US Open

Carlos Alcaraz reached his maiden quarterfinal at a grand slam and after the match, the Spanish phenom was very excited.

It was another tricky match for Alacaraz who once again needed 5 sets to win a match. He did not produce the same level he had against Tsitsipas but it was more than enough to take down Peter Gojowczyk. After the match he said:

"Well, I'm super excited to be in my first second week in the Grand Slam, so it's amazing for me. It's a dream come true, no? It's really good for me, yeah."

Alcaraz and Gojowczyk played a roller-coaster of a match where the momentum changed every set. Asked about his mentality about the match he said:

"I knew that Peter is a really good player. I had to play a really good level, so I tried not to think about the Stefanos match. Yeah, to be focusing in this match, I knew that it's going to be a really tough match against a really great player."

Alcaraz also admitted that playing tough matches like this is taking a toll on him both physically and mentally. He enjoyed massive support from the crowd which he admitted really gave him a boost in the 5th deciding set:

"Well, yeah, I mean, in the first sets I thought that I reach my limit physically and mentally. Yeah, I think the crowd was really, really important for me in this situation. So I felt the energy of the crowd pushing me up. Yeah, I think without the crowd, it couldn't be possible to be here."

He will face Felix Auger-Aliassime next with the Canadian also playing a stellar event so far. He was asked about the potential matchup but he did not offer any comment.
