Emma Raducanu continued to excel at the US Open smashing Shelby Rogers 6-2 6-1 for the US Open quarterfinal.
Emma Raducanu is the real deal was said by Mats Wilander a few days ago and the British phenom is just proving it one match at a time. Shelby Roger pulled out a great upset against Ashleigh Barty but today she got smashed. Her level was not the same as against Barty but Raducanu was still sensational. It was a slow start as she found herself down 0-2 but rather quickly she found a way to bounce back.
After adapting to the way Rogers plays, Raducanu was able to pull the American into rallies where she didn't feel comfortable at all. That resulted in Rogers committing quite a few errors which sent her into a downward spiral ending up with a 2-6 loss of the first set. Raducanu posted a 9-7 winner to error ratio while Rogers was much worse with 9-18.
The 2nd set was more of the same except Raducanu was much better than serving. Rogers had trouble sending balls back at all and the Brit controlled the match rather well. Rogers had trouble keeping balls in play as she committed far too many errors. Everything that went well against Barty was abysmal today and Raducanu simply cruised.
A great display by the British player today albeit not as impressive as her match against Sorribes Tormo. Today she was aided by Rogers quite a bit but a victory in the 4th round of the US Open in just over an hour is still a fascinating result for the teenager.
