World No. 11 Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has 1.9 million Instagram followers, has introduced a €6 subscription fee for access to exclusive content. The Greek player, who has earned over $32 million (€25 million) in his career, faced mixed reactions from fans regarding his decision to monetise certain posts.
The exclusive content includes additional stories and posts, as well as the announcement of a special live stream for his subscribers. Tsitsipas revealed an upcoming Q&A session, exclusively for paying fans, with the top prize being "a free daily pass ticket to all four Grand Slams for one lucky viewer (for the whole year!)."
Currently, Tsitsipas has just over 120 paying subscribers, including his girlfriend, Paula Badosa. Subscribers can view two exclusive stories, three posts, and the upcoming live stream. Despite some criticism, Tsitsipas has taken the opportunity to monetise his social media, supplementing his career earnings and sponsorships with major brands like Adidas, Wilson, Rolex, and Red Bull.
Not all fans welcomed the move. Some expressed their disappointment on social media:
