Although Jannik Sinner has been missing from the tennis scene over the past few weeks, the Italian was a hot topic on Monday after announcing a change in his management.
The World No.1 is currently serving a three-month ban from all tennis activities after he tested positive for Clostebol, a prohibited substance. Sinner's suspension began in February but will end in May, allowing him to return in time for the French Open.
Sinner had been under the management of StarWing Sports and agent Lawrence Frankopan for five years, with the organization overseeing the Italian's commercial endeavors during his rise to the top. However, Monday's surprise announcement revealed Sinner will no longer be working with them, opting to began a collaboration with AVIMA Sports and Business Management effective immediately.
There appears to be no animosity between both parties, as Sinner and Frankopan released statements wishing the other well following their split.
Given my long term commitments to StarWing Sports I was unable to accept their offer to work exclusively for AVIMA, but I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work for a talent like Jannik and proud of what we achieved together," said Frankopan. "I wish Jannik all the best and much success in his future endeavors."
"Lawrence Frankopan and his team have supported me so much and that will forever remain with me." said Sinner. "I’d like to thank them for their dedication throughout the years.”
