After his second round victory at the 2025 Australian Open, defending champion Jannik Sinner has added another record to his already impressive resume.

The World No.1 defeated Australian Tristan Schoolkate in their second round encounter, rallying from a set down to score a 4-6 6-6 6-1 6-3 victory. Sinner continues his onslaught in an attempt to retain the title he won in 2024, and has shown little sign of slowing down over the past year.

Sinner's victory puts him on a list with a tennis legend

Following his second round win, Sinner has recorded nine consecutive Australian Open victories dating back to the 2024 edition when he won his maiden major title. The San Candido native became the youngest player to achieve this feat at Melbourne in the men's singles event since 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic did so between 2008 and 2009.

Conversely, Djokovic is on a quest to win his 11th Australian Open title. The Serbian superstar has battled his way to the third round, overcoming American Nishesh Basavareddy and Portugal's Jaime Faria in the first and second round respectively. Djokovic will take on rising Czech star Tomas Machac for a spot in the round of 16.
