It was a very good match between Jannik Sinner and Galan Riveros in Turin with the Italian proving better in the end. The first set was a very exciting one as SInner struggled to find his rhythm fully. Galan was doing a great job of keeping SInner guessing and the Italian never quite found his rhythm until late. At 2-2, we saw some of the best drama of the day in Turin with four consecutive breaks.
Sinner was able to create a lot of damage with his forehand but he was not able to confirm the break on his serve. He would make a couple of mistakes and Galan was keeping himself in it. Sinner kept applying a lot of pressure on Galan but he only found a breakthrough late in the set at 5-5 taking a 6-5 lead. He played a great take to make it 7-5.
Sinner had a lot of pressure on him as Cabal and Farah were ready for the doubles match and if Sinner lost the match the Colombians would have a great chance to steal the tie with one of the best doubles pairings in the world. But after winning the first set Sinner oozed with confidence and it showed in his play. He completely destroyed Galan in the 2nd set with his forehand.
The Colombian did not know how to handle it and Sinner was able to win the set with a bagel in only 27 minutes. A great win for Italy who has a 2-0 lead with the doubles match still coming up.
