Novak Djokovic and Nikola Cacic were up a break in the 3rd set against Krawietz and Puetz but the Germans were able to come back to win the match and the tie for Germany.
It was a very entertaining finish to the tie between Germany and Serbia with the Germans ultimately prevailing 2-1. Both the result of the tie and the result of the final match of the tie were 2-1 with Puetz and Krawietz proving better.
The doubles match was a very interesting one as it started with a couple of breaks. Germany was on top early with 3-1 but the Serbians proved quite resilient pulling it back to 3-3. After that, both teams settled in nicely playing very good tennis. Neither allowed much and we went into the tiebreak where the Germans proved better early.
They had a 4-1 lead and while the Serbians rallied a bit it was still Krawietz and Puetz who won it 7-5. The 2nd set was less exciting as both teams played fairly well at the start. Neither allowed much and it was only late that the first break point appeared. It was for the Germans but the Serbians held on to win that game. They would continue to dominate winning 10 points in a row and taking a 5-3 lead.
They closed it out with 6-3 and continued to play great early in the 3rd taking a 3-1 lead. At 4-2, Djokovic and Cacic had a break point to finish off their opponents but they failed to convert it. In the next game, they faced break points and the Germans snatched it to make it 4-4. It ended in the tiebreak with the Germans pulling it out with 7-5.
