Jannik Sinner takes down red-hot Emil Ruusuvouri in Washington

Jannik Sinner is back to winning matches as he defeated Emil Ruusuvuori 6-2 6-4 in the 2nd round of the Citi Open.

Jannik Sinner has been having a very underwhelming 2021 after a very good start to the year. Sinner reached the final at the Miami Open but never quite found his footing on clay. His lack of experience showed on grass and he hoped to find some form on his preferred hard courts.

Today was a good step in that direction as he defeated a red-hor Ruusuvouri in the 2nd round of the Citi Open in Washington. The finish player entered this contest flat after playing a lot of matches recently and Sinner took advantage of it.

Sinner was very aggressive early winning the opening set with 6-4. The Finish player found some rhythm in the 2nd set as he kept Sinner far away from break points. The Italian got one midway through the set but Emil prevailed. The key moment of the 2nd set happened on 5-4 when Sinner got another break point.

This time around it was a match point and he was able to use it. Sinner was too good for Ruusuvouri who did not have his best today and he badly needed it against the Italian who is slowly picking up some form.
