Karen Khachanov is in the
Miami Open semi-finals after beating
Francisco Cerundolo 6-3 6-2 to continue his impressive run at the ATP 1000 event.
Khachanov has played plenty of tennis over the years but this year something looks different. The conviction in his game and the confidence he's showing is translating to the court in a major way. He was once ranked top 10 and he looks to be on the way to returning there after another impressive performance in Miami.
He's had a great start to the year and this match is confirmed. Cerundolo actually broke first but the Russian broke back immediately which was the start of his impressive run here. He's playing aggressive tennis and serving well forcing opponents into tricky shots that neither Cerundolo nor any of his previous opponents weren't able to hit.
The Argentine helped him here without question especially in the second set when his game fell apart completely. He was abysmal on the second set winning only four of 18 points. He had 22 unforced errors which was far more than Khachanov who had 9. The Russian also posted 22 winners compared to Cerundolo's 19.
