Nick Kyrgios and
Thanasi Kokkinakis have concluded their fairytale run at the 2022
Australian Open by sealing the Men's Doubles title in an all Aussie final against specialists, Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis as best friends away from the court have translated that magic this week captivating the Aussie public and they join Ashleigh Barty who won the Women's Singles final earlier today as winners on home soil.
Winning 7-5, 6-4 in the end, it is a first Grand Slam title for either player and a second doubles title for Kyrgios who sealed the Lyon Open alongside Jack Sock back in 2018 and also the same for Kokkinakis who won in Brisbane with Jordan Thompson back in 2017.
For the latter in particular, it continues his revival after five years in the tennis wilderness.
He ended up claiming Adelaide a few weeks ago in the singles and despite disappointing when heading to Melbourne after showing a return to form, he goes forward with doubles' honours to add to his collection.
