Nick Kyrgios will return to action on home soil at the Australian Open and for the Aussie ace, he will be taking it easy during the 2022 season and focusing his efforts off the court.
“I’ve got a couple of tournaments in about a month-and-a-half after the AO,” Kyrgios said.
“I’m just going to be doing a lot of things off-court. I feel like this year’s for me, kind of [a] year of freedom for me to dabble in areas that I want to do things in, and ... just collaborate with other things that aren’t tennis.
“I’m still travelling and playing from time to time. I’m definitely not going to be travelling as much as I have in the past.”
One surface he won’t be playing on is clay saying while he has success on the surface, it isn’t for him anymore.
“It’s not something that appeals to me any more,” Kyrgios added.
“Early on in my career when I didn’t really have a choice, I was just grinding and grinding and grinding [on the red dirt].
“I actually had some great results on clay. I actually didn’t mind playing on clay. I think my game style actually suits the dirt.
“At this point of my career I’m not going to be having 30-ball rallies against Diego Schwartzman.”
