Nick Moves Forward ➡ @NickKyrgios ousts Ruud 6-4 6-4 to set up a R4 encounter against Sinner! Hasn't dropped serve all week... #IndianWells
Nick Kyrgios got a chance to finally take on Casper Ruud and he did not disappoint with a 6-4 6-4 win to move on.
It was a match that had a lot of build-up with the players not being fans of another. Their public feud three years ago resulted in both calling each other names but they never got the chance to iron things out on the court. Well, it happened last night and it was a masterful performance from Nick Kyrgios. The Australian was superb and he was quite calm during the match.
He focused on his tennis and delivered the good stuff. Kyrgios lost only 10 points on serve all match long and that's something that is very hard to overcome whether you're Ruud or Federer. The Norwegian tried his best and tried a lot of variety but in the end, it was simply too good from Kyrgios. The players shook hands on the court and it was all fine.
After the match, on the court, Kyrgios joked that it was good not the get defaulted this time. He also reiterated his new mindset of wanting to keep his head down and working towards something big in tennis.
