Nick Kyrgios withdrew from the
Australian Open due to a knee injury and he underwent knee surgery in order to fix the issue and be ready for the rest of the season.
Kyrgios was devastated by the injury and the timing of it but he did what he do be done. An arthroscopic cleanup of his meniscus and the removal of a cyst were done recently as the Australian hopes to return in time for the Sunshine Double in North America. Had he played in Australia, he probably would not have returned sooner than that anyways as he plans on playing a condensed schedule.
Two months should be more than enough for Kyrgios to recover in time. His social media post said:
"Surgery complete. I’ll be doing everything I can do get
back to my best. to the real ones checking in and sending the vibes…. I
love you."
