Gael Monfils won't be playing at the
Monte-Carlo Masters after all despite initially claiming that he'll be ready for the 3rd Masters of the year.
Monfils had a wrist issue in Miami which forced him to retire against Humbert but a few days ago the French veteran provided an update claiming that things are not as bad as it looked initially. The scans confirmed that Monfils had an inflammation in the wrist as opposed to an actual injury but it seems like there is more to it.
He pulled out of the Monte-Carlo Masters without any updates leaving fans disappointed once more about what possibly went wrong. He seemed to have confirmed his participation in Monte Carlo a few days ago but now that won't be happening. Jack Draper will take his main draw spot in the event.
It's unclear where Monfils will make his return next as he signed up to play some challenger events in May. Madrid seems like the likely destination but until he provides another update we don't know. He won't be in Monaco, that's certain now.
