Rod Laver has spoke about his fellow countrymen Australia's chances in the ATP Cup and admitted that having the players including Alex de Minaur at the top of their game at the moment is only good for the team.
Laver added that in terms of De Minaur, he could be soon talked about as one of the top players in the sport and that he really believes he can make an impact going forward.
He also said about Nick Kyrgios admitting that the team format may suit him more than in singles as he showed his true metal at the Laver Cup.
“Tennis is great to have the both of them playing as well as they are now,” Laver told ATPTour.com. “That's a good team.”
“If he gets a few breaks here and there he could be mentioned with the top players,” Laver said on De Minaur. “To me, he's going to be a real force on the circuit and give the top guys all they can handle.”
“Maybe when he's at the ATP Cup, he's going to really enjoy it," Laver said of Kyrgios. “I think the camaraderie with the team concept he seems to like and enjoy. Because at the Laver Cup, he just showed it; he didn't mess around when he was playing.”
