The Italian won three consecutive service games and collected 12 straight points across that period, keeping himself within one break at 3-4. Fils nevertheless remained composed and did not allow the momentum to completely turn. He continued to protect his serve and eventually moved to 5-4, putting Cobolli under pressure to stay in the match.
Fils then earned his opportunity to finish and took it, closing out the match with another strong service game. The victory sends him into his first Cincinnati final and gives him another chance to win a Masters 1000 title after reaching deep stages at several events this season.
The ranking consequences are equally significant. Fils is guaranteed to rise to a new career-high No. 11 in the ATP rankings, moving into the top 12 for the first time. He also climbs to No. 6 in the ATP Race, underlining just how important his 2026 campaign has become.

The second set was more straightforward. Tiafoe continued to apply pressure on Nakashima's serve while protecting his own delivery, preventing his opponent from finding another route back into the contest. He eventually closed out the set 6-3 to complete the victory.
The result gives Tiafoe another chance to win the Cincinnati title after reaching the final here in 2021. He lost that championship match to Alexander Zverev, but five years later he will return to the same stage with another opportunity to claim his first Masters 1000 crown. Standing in his way will be Arthur Fils.

- I love WTA matches. Seek them out as much as possible on youtube and other platforms I already subscribe to. With that in mind, I do not wish to pay $$$ to a notoriously slippery subscription conglomerate sports broadcaster (like SkySports) just for the privilege to watch it and the tnt/eurosport/discovery subscription went from $$ to $$$+ annually in a blink of an eye. With ATP I have been begrudgingly paying xyz tennis only channel and try to catch up on slams elsewhere (pubs, youtube with USO later on games are just as enjoyable to watch and a smart move to upload on their official channel) but they don't cover WTA. I tried another Tennis dedicated channel that advertised originally as broadcasting where I live, but turned out, they took the money, but didn't cover the matches (only fluff/filler value documentaries). I don't understand why it is so hard to not lock the live matches to one broadcaster only refusing so many people who are happy to pay for the privilege just not through that one entry point. WTA is so exciting for the last few years and they really should capitalise on it as much as possible. And I know it is somewhat naive talking without knowing the inner works, but not being able to find any WTA other than youtube (and then only highlights mostly) is just so frustrating.JayJay11-09-2026
