On his Instagram profile, Lucas Pouille announced that he will miss the inaugural 2020 ATP Cup, Adelaide International and the Australian Open.

It is really sad news for Pouille and his fans. In the 2019 season, he was having a terrific form in Melbourne when he reached semifinals. World number 22 has been continuously part of the TOP 50 since May 2016 but in February 2020 he might find himself outside of the TOP 50 as he will miss a lot of points. On his Instagram account he wrote:

“It’s a massive disappointment for me to announce that I will not be able to take part in the first-ever ATP Cup event or the Adelaide tournament and above all I will not participate in the Australian Open As you can imagine, I’m extremely disappointed and sad to miss the start of the year, but the season is long, the career is long and now my goal is to be 100 percent competitive as quickly as possible."

Many ATP players including Stan Wawrinka or Felix Auger-Aliassime wished him quick recovery in the comments.
