Vedran Martic and I have decided to end our professional relationship and I would like to take a moment to thank him for his dedication, hard work, and all he has done for me as my coach. Of course, he stays my dear friend and Davis Cup captain. 💪🇭🇷
Marin Cilic has parted ways with coach Vedran Martic having started working with him in 2020.
It's not been a very fruitful pairing between Cilic and Martin who despite having an excellent of cour relationship never seemed to have found the right formula on the court. Cilic has played disappointing tennis ever since the pandemic started and his ranking has dipped to 40.
The former US Open champion announced the news on his Twitter page writing:
"Vedran Martic and I have decided to end our professional relationship and I would like to take a moment to thank him for his dedication, hard work, and all he has done for me as my coach. Of course, he stays my dear friend and Davis Cup captain."
Martic famously worked with Goran Ivanisevic for four years (1996-2000) guiding him to many successes on the court. Cilic is currently out of the tour having withdrawn from the Indian Wells Masters and it remains to be seen when he will return to the court.
