Matteo Berrettini to play in Napoli after early Florence exit

Matteo Berrettini suffered a shock exit at the Florence Open last week losing to Roberto Carballes Baena and he accepted to play in Napoli next week.

Berrettini was the second seed in Florence behind Felix Auger-Aliassime but the Italian failed in his first match against Roberto Carballes Baena. It was a shocking defeat for the Italian as he was up 5-3 in the final set serving for the match but he lost four straight games to lose.

Due to that, Berrettini accepted the chance to play in Napoli the following week as he tries to finish off the season on a high note as he will miss the ATP Finals in Turin. It's the second one he's going to miss as injury basically cut his last appearance short.

Berrettini's season was unfortunate as he suffered a wrist injury that forced him to have surgery. He then missed Wimbledon due to COVID-19 and struggled in the second half of the year with poor play.
