Sebastian Korda battled
Andy Murray in Gijon and the American player proved better 6-4 1-6 6-1 to move on to the semi-final.
Korda was heavily favoured in this matchup and he was able to win the match albeit it was not as easy as some thought it would be. Korda opened well taking an early 3-1 lead which became a 5-2 lead with a chance to close it out in the next game.
He lost his serve giving Murray some hope that he can come back but ultimately Korda proved too solid and finished it off 6-4. The second set was when Korda completely fell apart with his game nowhere near the level it was in the first set.
Murray played a lot better and ultimately won the second set 6-1 with it lasting 50 minutes. It was a strange set but much better played by Murray. He was unable to sustain the level in the final set as he dropped his serve early and once then more to fall behind 0-5.
He also got a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct after engaging in a long discussion with the umpire. Frustration grew for Murray as he was unable to get anything going in the final set. Korda finished off the job 6-1.
