Maxime Cressy extended his dream week in Montpellier by another day as he will contest the final against
Jannik Sinner, following his win over
Holger Rune 7-5 6-7(3) 7-6(3).
It was a typical indoor hard court match with not a lot of chances on either side and pretty long sets with plenty of games played. The first set saw Cressy dominate with his serve hitting it really consistently and finishing off points rather comfortably. Rune was the only player that faced a break point in the match and after saving one early, he didn't save the second one.
The second set was played spectacularly by both players. We didn't see a single break point in the entire set ending up in the tie-break. It was a well-contested one but Rune found solutions this time around taking it 7-3. The final set was pretty much the same set as neither player once again had any break points.
The tiebreak saw Cressy be sharper this time around as he cruised to a 7-3 finish. What a win for Cressy who used to represent France and feels at home in the country. He'll face Jannik Sinner in the final tomorrow as the Italian smashed Fils 7-5 6-2 to secure the final. Sinner will be heavily favoured to win it all.
