Medvedev ahead of Vienna debut: "I am really motivated"

Daniil Medvedev is highly motivated going into Vienna this week and he wants to finish the season on a high note.

It hasn't been a good few months for Medvedev lately but he is determined to end the season on a high note. Speaking about his motivation ahead of his Vienna debut he said:

“I am really motivated. There are only big points left [for me], an ATP 500, a Masters 1000 and [the Nitto ATP Finals in] London. [There are] only good things ahead, so I am really motivated to just be good, practise good and play good.”

It won't be an easy job for Medvedev who will open his Vienna campaign with a match against Antwerp finalist Alex De Minaur. Speaking about the toughness of the event he said:

“The tournament here in Vienna is actually really strong if you look at the seeded players and the rankings of all of the players. The first rounds, some of them are just really, really strong, so it is always challenging to go really, really deep in this tournament. Even being in the semi-final will be a success already and if I manage to meet Dominic there, it will hopefully be a great match to watch.”

Medvedev also spoke about the looming Nitto ATP Finals where he is yet to win a match. Last year he participated but lost all his RR matches. On that he said:

“When you get there, it is one of the dreams and goals in your life come true. The next goal is to win a match there, the next goal is to win a tournament there or [qualify] out of the group. I take it step-by-step but, of course, being there two years in a row is still a big achievement.”
