Daniil Medvedev and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are through to the next round of the Rolex Paris Masters following victories on Wednesday.

Daniil Medvedev was looking for revenge on Wednesday against Anderson who defeated him a couple of days earlier in Vienna. While he did move on it didn't quite go as he planned as Anderson retired after only 0 minutes of play. The South African sustained an injury in Vienna and while it didn't bother him too much against Djere today it certainly did. The result was 6-6 and 5-2 for Medvedev in the tiebreak when the South African decided it wasn't worth it and retired from the match. A quick one for Medvedev though he would have preferred to win straight up.
Joining him in the next round will be Davidovich Fokina who put another good performance in his match against Benjamin Bonzi. The Frenchman is having a solid year that saw him climb higher than ever in the rankings. He was good in the previous round as well but the Spaniard proved better today. It took Fokina a little over an hour to defeat the Frenchman 6-4 6-4. While the first set was pretty good from Fokina the 2nd was a bit more of a struggle as he went down 3-0 initially. But he once again showed his fighting spirit by coming back and winning it 6-4. Not a perfect display but good enough to move to the next round.
