Daniil Medvedev has arrived in Australia ahead of the
ATP Cup where he will lead the Russian team in a bid to win the event.
With the new year slowly approaching players are slowly starting to arrive in Australia and the latest to do so is Daniil Medvedev. The Russian was able to touch down with no issues and he announced the news on his Twitter profile. The Russian capped off the post with 'excited to be back' showcasing his hunger to get back onto the courts.
The last time he played, he led Russia to the Davis Cup trophy and he will look to do the same over the course of the next fortnight when the ATP Cup takes place. The event will start on January 1st and it will mark the official start of the 2022 season. It will be the first event for Medvedev since the Davis Cup as he avoided playing any events before the Australian swing.
A wise decision as his teammate Andrey Rublev caught the virus recently and his ATP Cup appearance is in doubt.
