Daniil Medvedev returned to winnin ways in Miami by taking down
Andy Murray in straigh sets 6-4 6-2.
Another unfortunate draw for Andy Murray meant that he had to face the number one seed in the 2nd round and as many expected the British player failed to overcome that. From the start, it was quite clear that Medvedev is the better player and that he would most likely win the match. The Russian himself did not press the issue too much opting to be patient in his game.
Eventually, he got the break he needed in the first set and that proved more than enough to secure the first set with 6-4. Both were sharp on their first serves but the Russian hit it at a much higher rate and that proved key. Murray was not able to hold the line on his 2nd serve as well and the Russian used that to his advantage.
The 2nd set followed a very similar pattern. He served a little bit better but once again it was not enough because Medvedev found his rhythm and played even better in the 2nd set. On his own serve he was typically dominant while on return he did just enough to get the break he needed. He added another one later on before finishing it off with 6-2.
Medvedev dropped only four points on his first serve and did not face a single break point. Great performance for the world number two.
