It was a match that didn't want to end but it had to and eventually, it did when
Daniil Medvedev finished it off with a service winner forcing the scoreboard to show 3-6 7-5 7-6(7) against
Alexander Zverev at the
Monte-Carlo Masters.
Yes, it was a crazy match and it had somewhat of a crazy ending. Over 3 hours did Medvedev and Zverev battle it out with the Russian under the neutral flag winning the match. A good and competitive match saw Zverev capture the first set 6-3 behind some really solid play. He was aggressive, served better and had more winners which was more than enough to win the match.
The second set played out in a pretty crazy fashion. First, we saw Medvedev take an early 2-0 lead which he held for a while but Zverev fought back to make it 3-3. Then the German even went ahead taking a 5-4 lead with a chance to serve out the match but he didn't because this match simply didn't want to end.
After that, we saw him throw away all of that by losing two more games and dropping the set altogether sending this match into a decider. It was a long decider that stretched the match over 3 hours but it was rather uneventful in terms of twists and turns. We saw Zverev break at 5-4 to try and serve out the match once more but he failed, obviously.
Then we saw the tiebreak where Medvedev held a 5-2 lead with two serves coming up to close out the match but he failed, obviously and then we saw Zverev take the 7-6 lead with a chance to serve out the match but what did we say earlier? He failed, obviously. And only then did we see Medvedev finally close it out.
