Medvedev on setting expectations: "Even if they are lower, I try to make everything so they are high again"

Daniil Medvedev continues his strong start to the seaosn by beating Karen Khachanov in straight sets and he's keeping expectations high.

Medvedev experienced a down year last year unable to really find a good rhythm at all. He had good results but lost a couple of finals and generally did not live up to the expectations many had of him. Some adjusted their expectations for Medvedev in 2023 but he's keeping them very high, as always:

"I don't know. I put high expectations on myself all the time, but the most important thing for me is to work hard and try to do my best. Talking about other people, I don't know."

Medvedev continued by explaining that he doesn't know what the expectations even are for him:

"I don't know which expectations they put at me right now. Even if they are lower, I will try to make everything I can so that they are high again."

On the match itself, he said:

"Happy with my level today. I think it was maybe the strongest match, but both second round and today were pretty happy about my level. Playing against Karen, not easy."
