Daniil Medvedev was one of the most successful players of the 2020 ATP season, but the Russian wants to be successful also off-court.
Like millions of people around the world, Daniil Medvedev plays the Fantasy Premier League which consists of creating your own football team from players that play in the English Premier League which later score points for your team. Then, you can compare with other managers around the world and also the young Russian found interest in this activity. After his triumph at the 2020 ATP Finals, he also spoke about his Fantasy Team, when he said:
“My team name in Russian means ‘terrible Aubameyang’ but in a good way, like scary Aubameyang who is going to score a lot of points," said Medvedev. "But that hasn't been the case so far! I really like him as a player, so hopefully he can score more, but unfortunately for my team I have already sold him!"
"I am kind of a high-risk, high-reward player," Medvedev explained. "I could take [Bruno] Fernandes but all of my friends have him. I've taken [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane so I've decided to go for full Liverpool attack."
"In previous seasons I was always finishing in the top 300,000, maybe 500,000. But this season is really terrible for me, like I have bad luck or I am choosing a bad team. I cannot break one million!" Medvedev admitted. "I remember last year that Magnus Carlsen was doing really well. One day I want to be there so people can talk about me also as a good Fantasy manager.”
