Medvedev's Cincinnati semifinal behaviour branded 'disgraceful' by former doubles number one Rennae Stubbs

Daniil Medvedev's behaviour at the Cincinnati masters was slammed and called disgraceful by former doubles world number one Rennae Stubbs.

Daniil Medvedev collided with a camera during his semifinal match vs Andrey Rublev at the Western & Southern Open in Cinncinati. In the process, he injured his hand which bothered him throughout the match he ended up losing. Up until that point, he was largely cruising in a match and many expected him to leave.

The Russian was not happy about the collision as he proceeded to kick the lens of the camera in fit of anger upon the collision. He was calmed down by the umpire and resumed the match but not withouth threathening the sue the event.

Former doubles world number one Rennae Stubbs commented on the matter:

“Agree the camera position could be looked at, I don’t disagree but to go back and kick it, come on man. U can’t do that. I understand his frustration i have run into cameras before when i played too and it’s tough but don’t go back and kick it. That’s not a good look.”

Stubbs formerly coached Karolina Pliskova was not the only one to come out and criticize the action. Daniella Hantuchova commenting on the event expressed her belief that Medvedev should come out and apologize. He did not offer any comment or apology for the incident after the match. He finsihed the match losing out to Rublev in 3 sets.
