Gael Monfils has claimed his ninth ATP Tour title and his third at the Open Sud de France as he eased past Vasek Pospisil in a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Monfils in claiming the title for the third time has continued the homegrown domination which has seen eight of the last 10 champions being French.
His performance included six aces and 70 percent on his first serve with 2/4 on break points in an impressive display from the number one seed in the competition.
His run to victory saw him come through with ease in many of his ties defeating Adrian Mannarino 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; Norbert Gombos 6-3, 6-4 and Filip Krajinovic 7-6, 6-2.
Gael Monfils improves his record to 19-4 in the event and extended his unbeaten Head2Head record against Pospisil to six matches.
The latter was aiming to win his first ATP Tour trophy in his second final but couldn't continue his brilliant form.
The winner will now attempt to defend his Rotterdam World Tennis Tournament title
next week to add a tenth crown to his total.
