Andy Murray disappointed against Auger-Aliassime who defeated the Brit in two sets to secure the quarterfinal spot 6-3 6-4.
A lot was expected from the matchup between Murray and Auger-Aliassime but the matchup was largely disappointing because the Brit was largely disappointing. Murray opened up the match with very lacklustre serving and it never changed. Auger-Aliassime jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a double break but Murray was able to pull one break.
He did not manage to pull the other back as Auger-Alissime won the opening one with 6-4. The Canadian served rather well and dropped only 6 points on his first serve. He exploited Murray's 2nd as he had ample opportunity to do so.
Murray played a bit better in the 2nd set but his serving woes still continued. There were not many cheap points for Murray and Auger-Aliassime had plenty of chances to break Murray. The Brit held on initially but dropped his serve midway through the 2nd set to give the Canadian the lead. Felix was playing rather well again winning his service games without much fuss.
Murray put more pressure on Auger in the 2nd set on his 2nd serve but he never quite got the chance to break him. Auger avoided any break points and calmly served out the match with 6-4. It was a very disappointing result for Murray who audibly complained that he could not crack an egg with his serve. His serve truly let him down in a very big match for him.
