Simona Halep will embark on a journey that will have her play tennis without a coach for the first time and
Chris Evert likes the decision.
Halep shocked many when she parted ways with longtime coach Darren Cahill last year considering how good the relationship between them was. Cahill helped Halep unlock her potential guiding her to several huge successes. She hired two of her former coaches to start this year but parted ways with them after the Australian Open.
She confirmed it recently during an interview explaining that she is not against coaching or that she gave up on coaching but rather wants to try playing by herself. She said:
“I have a lot of advice left to me from all the coaches I’ve worked with, especially from my six years with Darren, I have a lot of ideas and now they all seem to come, especially when you are relaxed and you don’t feel the pressure of the team.”
Chris Evert is a staunch supporter of Halep and she wrote on Twitter:
"I support anything Simona Halep says or does"
Whether the decision proves good one remains to be seen but Halep is preparing to return in Dubai very soon and in order to be ready playing outdoors, she travelled to the French Riviera in order to use the facilities on the Mouratoglou Academy.
